Detects your TomTom devices and manages its content (maps, speed cameras and other content supported by the TomTom device). Provides connectivity to the MyDrive website as well and Scans the firmware version and provides an update whenever it's the case.
MyDrive Connect is client application that allows your TomTom navigation device to connect with MyDrive, a web-based tool designed to manage the contents of a TomTom device. As this application is not compatible with all TomTom devices, you will need to check your device’s model before you download and install it. Fortunately, there is a sister app, called TomTom HOME that supports those models that are not compatible with MyDrive Connect.
MyDrive Connect can help update and download maps as well as erase those that are no longer needed so that you can have enough free space on your device. It works by creating a “bridge” between your device and your MyDrive account.
The application has a nice multi-language interface and it runs from the system tray. A button click can start the connection without the need to provide further data. Luckily, it can automatically check for updates. It also allows you to connect through a proxy as well as create a cache folder to store the downloaded items on your PC.
The advantages of this application cannot be separated from those derived from using TomTom services, an advanced global positioning system intended to assist drivers in finding and planning their routes. For instance, you can use a TomTom device to calculate the fastest route at a given time. Likewise, you can benefit from thousands of free corrections made by the huge community of TomTom users. Unfortunately, although the application is free, TomTom only offers paid services.
